The International Baccalaureate Program
The Lower & Upper Secondary program integrates elements of the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy, which emphasizes the development of the whole person. While students engage deeply in academic study, equal importance is placed on personal growth, social responsibility, and character development.
IB education encourages students to grow not only as learners, but also as thoughtful members of a global community. Students develop qualities such as curiosity, reflection, integrity, and open-mindedness while strengthening their academic skills.
Through this framework, students learn to think critically, communicate effectively, and approach challenges with creativity and perseverance. The goal is to help adolescents develop the intellectual, emotional, and social capacities needed to navigate an increasingly complex world.
Areas of Student Growth
Student progress reflects development across several interconnected areas:
- Personal accountability
- Intellectual curiosity and inquiry
- Communication and collaboration
- Personal responsibility and self-management
- Service and community engagement
- Creative and critical thinking
These areas of development reflect the shared goal of Montessori and IB education: preparing students not only for academic success, but for meaningful participation in the wider world.
The IB Learner Profile
The Lower Secondary program also reflects the values of the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile, which encourages students to grow not only academically, but also socially, ethically, and emotionally. These attributes support the development of thoughtful, capable young people who are prepared to contribute positively to their communities and the wider world.
Students are encouraged to develop the following qualities:
